Photographer, Janine Fugere, Taking Photos at Playa La Barqueta, Chiriquí, Panama
As Seen by Janine’s recent travel and photography adventures in Panama have left me with treasured memories and hundreds of photographs still waiting to be processed. Among the photos I will cherish the most are some which are not mine, but these photos taken of me by photographer Ron Elkind.
I have so few photos of myself on my photography adventures, let alone photos so eloquently capturing me doing what I love the most, which is creating beautiful photographs.
I’ll always be grateful to Ron Elkind, a U.S. citizen and talented photographer now retired in Boquete, for encouraging me to travel to Panama and for helping make my adventure possible. I’d never even have dreamed of this trip before we met.
I’ll also always be grateful to Ron for capturing these very candid photos of me photographing the Pacific Ocean with Costa Rica in view across the water. I had no idea Ron was taking these, so they are completely the “real me” in action.
These photos not only capture me in action as a professional photographer, but they also capture my joy as I frolicked like a child, thrilled to be at an ocean again! Chances to play and take photos seaside are nothing a Colorado girl takes for granted. This was the first time I’ve been at an ocean since seeing the Atlantic in 2010, and the first time I’ve seen the Pacific since 2006.
Ron really portrayed the true photographer in me through these images. He also very beautifully captured the intensity of the weather and the surf on this day by choosing black and white for these images. I love them!
From the moment I got to this spot at the Pacific Ocean, I was the happiest I’d been since arriving in Panama. I thank Ron for inviting me to Panama, for helping me meet so many other people who live there, and for these spectacular portraits of me at the beach. Thanks Ron, I love these!
